Hydraulic Oil Reclaiming System to 16/15/11 with <0.08 Moisture

It is recognized that hydraulic oil cleanliness prolongs the life of mechanical systems and reduces maintenance costs. Water, solid contaminants, and varnish contribute to abrasive wear and stiction. Plastic Injection machine OEM’s often undersized the hydraulic filtration they provide or the filters are not efficient enough to prevent contamination build up over time. The OEM provided filtration will remove solid particle but does not address water removal or varnish remediation. Additional oil purification equipment is required but can be cost prohibitive to install on each machine. Replacing the oil in the reservoir with reclaimed oil can be the most economical way to address accumulated contamination.

High Viscosity Filter Elements to Maintain Oil Cleanliness

It is recognized that oil cleanliness prolongs the life of mechanical systems. Hard, solid contaminants contribute to abrasive wear and ultimately catastrophic failure. Filtration of gearboxes and bearings in high load applications can be problematic due the high viscosity oils used. Achieving relatively low particle counts (<6-micron) on high viscosity oils (>280 cSt) can be difficult. Filters installed on a sump re-circulation will initially remove particles below 6-micron, and over time stop removing small particles.

Improve Vessel Operator Safety & Reduce Confined Space Entry

Coalescing vessel design requires the filter element to terminate well below the outlet of the vessel.  Operators are required bodily entry into the vessel to change out the coalescing elements. Vessel entry creates additional safety concerns, and permit- required confined space.

Varnish Removal In Solar Titan 130 Gas Turbine

Maintenance personnel at the Power House of a major university in New York noticed discoloration of the Mobil SHC 32 Lube Oil in their Solar Titan 130 Gas Turbine Generator after several years of operation. This prompted them to conduct oil analysis, and the lab results revealed an elevated varnish potential number of MPC 53. If left untreated, operators were worried that varnish would eventually plate out on the metal surfaces within the lube oil system, causing elevated bearing temperatures and possible premature wear and failure.

Filtering Brand New Oil – Why and How

Brand new hydraulic and lubrication oils typically do not meet stringent OEM cleanliness specifications.

 

The minute they leave the refinery or lube oil plant, they begin to pick up particulate contamination at every stage of transport, starting with the pipeline, rail car, tanker truck, plastic tote, and/or 55-gallon drum. These containers all have an inherent amount of particulate contamination in them, and depending on how well they have been pre-cleaned (if at all), they can be the source of significant contamination in the form of very fine particulates that cannot be seen with the naked eye (40-Micron and smaller).

Your Number One Lube Oil Problem – Moisture
